About Me

Howdy!! Just in case you might be interested in the person behind this web site, let me introduce myself beyond simply being a name. I can now claim to be a part of the over 50 crowd...seen Elvis, been to Woodstock, grew up on Long Island, N. Y. and in my 20's crossed to the 'other' coast to California. October 1999 was another big change as my husband retired and we moved to a beautiful area of SW Washington. We now live on 5 acres so we can truly say 'we've gone to the dogs'

Dogs have always been an important part of my life...the very first dog show I attended was the Westminster Show in the early 60's. First breed I was involved with for showing was the Alaskan Malamute and I still admire the breed greatly. Now we have a more "wash and wear" breed by living with Australian Cattle Dogs....truly a breed 'not for everyone' as they can be a very high energy dogs that need and want to be mentally and physically active.

Our goals for the pups we breed is #1 - their home environment. We make temperament and intelligence a top priority and since this is a "Velcro" breed we do not care to place our pups in a kennel environment. Our pups have gone to some wonderful homes and have proven they can do what this breed was originally bred for - working livestock. But also being a realist and knowing that this is a job that is often taken over by ATV's and other means, we want a dog that will fit into today's world. I highly suggest that those that want to "do" with this breed try agility or Rally obedience!! These are dogs that like to do something, they make great trail buddies, love to travel with their people, go fishing, hiking and even swimming. While these dogs do like to be around their families and can do well living in the home, being bored can lead to them being creative in their own ways -- much to the damage of a house!! PLEASE - before actually adding a ACD to your home, do your homework, get onto the message boards listed on my LINKS page read some of the articles there too. Get to know what these guys are like before you make a commitment to one. A great match of dog and people is priceless, and should not be taken lightly.
